The Assizes were held only in the Summer and always at Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Additionally Assizes were held for the County of the Town of Newcastle-upon-Tyne simultaneously with the shire Assizes. 168 death sentences leading to 44 executions. Executions were carried out in Newcastle upon Tyne at Westgate for people sentenced at the County Assizes
and on the Town Moor for those convicted at the City Assizes and also 12 miles north at Fair Moor, Morpeth.
