All executions during 2016 were by lethal injection.
Texas carried out 7 executions, Arkansas 4, Alabama 3, Florida 3, Ohio 2, Virginia 2, Missouri 1 and Georgia 1.
31 states have death penalty statutes as 1 July, 2016 and 2,905 inmates were on death row at this time in 35 states and the Federal Government.
All executions are carried out for 1st degree murder and are by lethal injection unless otherwise indicated after the prisoner’s name.
